Nestled in the heart of the Perth Hills, Lake Leschenaultia is an impressive recreational lake surrounded by magnificent native trees and wildflowers.

As part of the Perth Hills WanderFest series, we invite you to join us for an accessible and inclusive hike around Lake Leschenaultia, where you’ll wind through the shaded woodlands that hug the lake’s sparkling shoreline. 

The impressive trail network at Lake Leschenaultia offers us a 3km beginner and accessible loop trail which is alive with the sounds of birdlife and the soft rustle of eucalypt leaves in the breeze. This gentle, well-formed trail invites walkers of all ages and abilities to enjoy the beauty of the Western Australian bushland at their own pace and fully guided by our award-winning guides.

You can expect to see the vivid blue lechenaultia biloba blooming in abundance and scatterings of many other delicate wildflowers, as you wander and explore in awe. Keep an eye out for red-capped parrots, the splendid fairy-wren, purple swamphen and red-tailed cockatoos high in the treetops and even the occasional grazing kangaroo as you wander this accessible and immersive trail.

As we reach the sandy shores of the lake, you’ll be treated to a delicious and nutritious morning tea sponsored by the Shire of Mundaring.

The compacted gravel path is mostly flat with wide, open sections and regular seating areas, making it suitable for wheelchairs, prams, walking aids, and anyone seeking a relaxed, low-impact outdoor experience. 

The WanderFest Mundaring Accessible Hike is a perfect blend of tranquillity, beauty, and accessibility.

Proudly supported by the State Government through the Department of Local Government, Sport, and Cultural Industries and Destination Perth, the WanderFest Perth Hills series aims to create vibrant, inclusive, and connected WA communities through outdoor adventure.

Accessibility: This hike is suitable for people living with low vision, low hearing, mobility aids or wheelchairs and cognitive disabilities.

Carers/Support: Carers and Support People can attend this hike for free, but please ensure they are registered.

Toilets: Please note there is an accessible toilet at the car park, and then another nearby where we'll enjoy morning tea.

Includes: Guided 3km hike, morning tea, complimentary use of hiking poles, sunscreen, repellent & access to all hike photos. 

What to Bring? Camera, 1-2ltrs water, personal first aid, rain jacket (just in case) a good attitude and big smile! 

Meeting Place: Please meet at the Lake Leschenaultia West Car Park. Turn into Lake Leschenaultia and turn right, follow the bitumen road until you see the toilet block and OTBT flag.
