Discover the enchanted paperbarks, cascades and hidden natural spa of Roley Pools as we take you on a journey along the Boardwalk Trail at Roley Pool Reserve.

This September, young adventurers aged 4 to 12 are invited to explore the wonders of Roley Pools on a special series of hikes designed to spark curiosity, imagination and a love for the natural world.

With the theme "Building Future Environment Warriors", these fun and engaging nature play hikes combine physical movement with hands-on, tactile activities that connect children with their environment. Along the scenic Roley Pools Trail, kids will splash through shallow creeks, build leaf boats, spot native wildlife, and explore bushland secrets – all while learning how to care for country, protect habitats, and become champions for the planet.

Roley Pools Reserve is a leisurely 2.6km trail in Roleystone that takes you along the gully's edge past cascades and small waterfalls. The scenery on this hike is very pretty with the banks of the gully lined with lush green foliage, paper-bark trees and a variety of wildflowers through Spring.

We'll pass giant granite boulders and calm waters of the pools as we meander through the trees. Through stories, games and discovery stations led by passionate guides, young hikers will learn about local flora and fauna, the importance of biodiversity, and what it means to be a wildlife and eco warrior.

We'll stop at Nature's Spa and enjoy a delicious morning tea together before making our way back through the trees and past the boulders for one more dose of tranquillity!

This hiking experience is presented in partnership with the City of Armadale. The State Government through the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries is a major supporter of the Spring Steps hiking series in Western Australia. Sport and recreation creates vibrant, inclusive and connected WA communities.
